Improvising You is a music performance that reflects on human connection in the digital age, by using audience feedback as an integral part of the artistic creation. Through this audiovisual and interactive work, Rafaele Andrade reflects on the balance between collective and individual identity, navigating themes of self-optimization, communication and self-awareness.
Using a custom-designed experimental music instrument (the knurl), Andrade interacts with the live biological data—specifically heart rate and brain waves—of 8 audience volunteers. The audience experiences their internal rhythms transformed into an external, shared composition of sound, visuals and light.
