Utrecht's new hardcore revelation launches debut album with mini-festival

After conquering the national punk scene at breakneck speed, Utrecht's own hardcore supergroup State Power is releasing its debut album. To celebrate, they are transforming De Helling into a full-blown hardcore circus. A mini-festival featuring a tattoo stand, craft beer, and no fewer than five of the best hardcore bands from the Low Countries. So start running laps already, because this is going to be the best punk party of the year.

STATE POWER
'A manifestation of pure love in its most aggressive form' – that is how State Power describes their own music. We call them 'the best of the Utrecht punk scene in one band.' State Power was formed when band members from Tusky, Bony Macaroni, Two and a Half Girl, and Half Cab joined forces out of a love for lightning-fast hardcore. After that, things moved quickly. With several EPs and a packed Popronde, the band immediately put themselves on the Dutch punk map – and now it is time for the next step: the long-awaited debut HYPERSTITION. A scorching collection of thrash-infused hardcore bangers, with which they are coming to lay De Helling to ashes.

Primitive Bliss
Digital technologies haven't always made the world a better place. Fascist tech giants, influencers in Dubai, the manosphere… The Luddites of Primitive Bliss, consisting of members of Hawser, Voidcrawler, and Deathtrap, are certainly done with it all. Escape the nightmare of modern life with drums and strings that hurl you back into prehistory. And woe betide you if a phone is visible in the room.

Coalmine Canary.
They shatter the norm by feverishly merging mathematically reasoned hardcore, noise-punk, and insane stage acrobatics into a completely derailed live show. We are talking about Coalmine Canary, with their intensely dizzying stage presence that fans of bands like The Dillinger Escape Plan, Converge, and Better Lovers can feast their eyes on. We challenge you to come! Or are you perhaps afraid?

Karnabahar
Karnabahar—and we’re not talking about the winter vegetable, but about the Netherlands-based 90s/00s screamo band à la Orchid, La Quiete, and Funeral Diner. The recipe? Five band members, one stage, and mosh pits to your heart's content. With loose influences from folk in the broadest sense of the word, they combine melancholic melodies with fast, chaotic passages. Let yourself be swept away by the raw, emotionally charged noise and get fully digested!

Curselifter
With their aggressive metallic hardcore, Curselifter believes in compassion and an end to violent oppression – a welcome contradiction. Through rousing lyrics, they simultaneously make a stand against all forms of injustice. They deliver a live show that guarantees two-stepping, stage diving, and (voluntary) fighting with your friends. With new tracks on the way and more motivation than ever, they are coming to give De Helling a good thrashing!
