The Selecter is one of the major bands of the English ska revival that found its way in the late seventies via 2 Tone Records, the label where Madness, The Beat, and (label founders) The Specials also released their records. With their danceable mix of reggae, punk, and ska, The Selecter immediately shot to the top of the charts – songs like Missing Words and On My Radio are part of the canon of British ska. Sadly, singer Arthur 'Gaps' Hendrickson passed away in 2024, but iconic frontwoman Pauline Black keeps the flame burning. Original drummer Charley Bembridge is also still with the band!
