In 'They Have Waited Long Enough', three women who were vilified or persecuted as witches finally get a voice. Soprano Katharine Dain and the Ragazze Quartet tell the stories of the Basque midwife Maria San Juan de Garonda, the mythological goddess Hecate, and the English prophetess Mother Shipton. With string quartet, soprano, and the txalaparta, a Basque percussion instrument, this is an evening about song cycles, magic, persecution, and women reclaiming their own stories.
