TouchLab × Echotope: The concert hall as infrastructure for the future. How does the musical infrastructure of the future look like? In this lecture, Insomnio/TouchLab and echotope present their joint research on the integration of spatial acoustics, real-time audio processing, and ultra-low-latency remote performance. By combining the expertise of both organizations, a unique research and performance environment is created where musicians can play together remotely as if they were in the same space. The concert hall becomes more than a physical location: it develops into a flexible performance environment where spatial audio, acoustic processing, remote performance, and hybrid concert forms come together. Antal van Nie and Ulrich Pöhl provide a behind-the-scenes look at this collaboration and show how this shared infrastructure creates new possibilities for artistic research, international collaboration, and the performance practice of the future.
