Will Samson has been making music for over ten years at the intersection of electronica, folk, and ambient, driven by a fascination with immersive listening experiences and analog recording techniques. Born in Oxford into a family with roots in Chile, West Bengal, and Kenya, he spent his childhood in Western Australia before later living and working in cities such as Berlin, Brighton, Lisbon, and Brussels. Themes such as identity, displacement, and belonging run like a common thread through his oeuvre. Unconstrained by genre boundaries, Samson has developed a distinctive artistic voice in which intimacy and experimentation converge. His music has been released through labels including Wichita Recordings / PIAS, 12k, Dauw, and Aus Music.
With his new album Sings Again, Samson opens a new chapter. The album emerged in the aftermath of a profound ayahuasca experience in 2024 and was largely written and recorded during a residency in the Portuguese region of Alentejo. For the first time in years, he returns to a distinctly vocal approach, following a period in which he focused primarily on instrumental compositions. Inspired by artists such as Björk, Four Tet, and Efterklang, Sings Again combines organic sound sources, analog recording processes, and subtle electronic textures into his most personal and candid work to date. Where previous albums often hid behind abstraction and suggestion, Samson here offers a direct insight into themes such as transformation, loss, and renewed direction.
In addition to an extensive oeuvre, Samson built a strong live reputation with concerts throughout Europe and the United Kingdom. He shared the stage with artists such as Ólafur Arnalds, S. Carey, Kurt Vile, Efterklang, and Do Make Say Think, and performed at leading festivals like Rewire and Le Guess Who? in the Netherlands, as well as Fusion (DE) and Explore The North. His music received support from BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 1, KEXP, Mojo, Uncut, CLASH, The Sunday Times, and Le Monde, among others. Furthermore, he collaborated with and created remixes for artists such as Gold Panda, Masayoshi Fujita, and The Album Leaf.
