Loveth Besamoh summarises the creative trajectory of the eponymous band he founded
quite aptly: a surrender to metamorphosis through music. The birthname given to the
Cameroonian producer/multi-instrumentalist literally means ‘To Love / Speak Truth – as
powerful a maxim as any when engaging in artistic endeavors. Like a tree branching out
from fertile topsoil, the band Loveth Besamoh has organically evolved from its founder’s
bedroom productions to a dynamic four-piece outfit that combines post-punk, folk, afropsychedelica,
shoegaze and kraut rock in unorthodox, firebrand fashion.
Gaining a steady following with their torrential live performances, Loveth (vocals, guitars,
percussion), Do Milder (bass), Devon van Wijngaarden (guitar), and Iwan van der Keur
(drums) have embedded themselves deeply within Rotterdam’s rich alternative music scene,
with latest EP Riverbed as the latest marker for the group’s rapidly evolving, collaborative
sound. Currently Loveth Besamoh are gearing up to record their long-awaited debut LP.
