Abel Ghekiere is a Belgian multi-instrumentalist with a sound stemming from minimalist jazz, traditional folk, and field recordings. His debut album, 'Voor het verdwijnt, en toen', featured traces of grief and loss—an album that sways and comforts. In his new music, he plays with greater openness, softness, and euphoria, resulting in the album 'In de verte, dit uitzicht'. With this music, he performed at festivals such as Gent Jazz, BRDCST, Leffingeleuren, Into The Great Wide Open, and Motel Mozaïque, and supported acts including Alabaster dePlume, Black Country, New Road, and caroline. On stage, he plays guitar, clarinet, and banjo, together with Tobias Volckaert (saxophone), Orlan Ghekiere (drums), and Hendrike Scharmann (violin).
