Billy Nomates made a striking debut single simply titled 'No' in the spring of 2020. The word also neatly summarizes the overall trend of her music: the fierce and outspoken artist from Bristol creates her songs from a desire for rebellion. In edgy-sounding no-wave and post-punk, she rebels in her spoken words against themes such as Brexit, zero-hour contracts, and gender inequality.

On May 16, 2025, Billy's third album 'Metalhorse' will be released, her first album recorded with a full band with bassist Mandy Clarke from KT Tunstall and drummer Liam Chapman from Rozi Plain. Blues, folk, and piano-driven arrangements push the tight punk sound of Billy Nomates in a more pastoral direction. You can hear it on the recently released singles 'The Test' and 'Plans'.
