Chloe Slater, a singer from Bournemouth, has been writing songs since she was just out of her childhood. Now living in Manchester, she has swapped the sandy beaches for rainy open-mic nights and found her voice somewhere between the local kebab shop and the university library. Her debut album ‘Riot Youth’ is being released at a time when feelings of hopelessness and nihilism are rife. With ‘Riot Youth’, she aims to provide a soundtrack for this unique period in history. “We’re angry about the state of the world, but we feel we can’t change anything, so we turn to music. I just hope this is the kind of music that offers comfort, but doesn’t distract,” she says. With her latest single ‘Ugly’, she offers a taste of the new album.
