Le Guess Who? is considered one of the most progressive festivals in the world. It focuses on sounds rarely heard elsewhere, but which offer new perspectives on what's possible in music.
Le Guess Who? returns to Utrecht from November 6-9 . For four days, the festival will take over the city with shows in pop venues, theaters, churches, wharf cellars, and clubs.
The program includes Ghanaian legend Ata Kak , who takes the stage with his new album, his first new work since 1994. Qawwali , nephews of qawwali master Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, present several performances during a three-day residency. Curator Tianzhuo Chen and dancer and choreographer Siko Setyanto present the multidisciplinary performance Moyang 先祖 & Seaman 漁師. Nicolás Jaar collaborates with Pakistani-American artist Ali Sethi , who blends traditional South Asian melodies with electronics. Lebanese artists Jad Atoui, Anthony Sahyoun, and Sandy Chamoun present Ghadr غدر, a project that fuses electronics with vocals rooted in classical Arabic music. Iggor Cavalera , co-founder of Sepultura, and Attila Csihar (Void ov Voices) perform together for the first time. And then there's Italian musician Daniela Pes and composer and producer IOSONOUNCANE , who present a special, brand new collaboration.
Also on the programme are Colombian artist Lido Pimienta ; drone greats SUNN O))) ; Jamaican roots reggae group The Congos ; rising star in dance music gyrofield ; DIY noise rock group Unwound ; musician and visual artist Lonnie Holley ; Berlin-based DJ and producer Objekt ; saxophonist, poet and activist Alabaster DePlume ; drummer, composer and multi-instrumentalist Valentina Magaletti ; Peruvian Cumbia legends Los Wembler's de Iquitos ; and many more.
