MY BABY
Psychedelic, futuristic funk
Friday 18 December 2026
In a dark, packed club, an expectant tension hangs in the air as three musicians take the stage. There is an electric tension, and from the very first notes you feel: you are about to be taken on a musical journey, a daring trip. And before you know it, you are intoxicated by blues rock, tribal rhythms, warm, rootsy melodies, and harmonies. They drag you along with a healthy dose of psychedelia and funk. Here, styles from the past meander and come together in a compelling, futuristic trip. Welcome to MY BABY.
The Amsterdam/New Zealand-based band MY BABY consists of singer/multi-instrumentalist Cato van Dyck, who acts as the connecting factor between the various musical genres with her expressive voice and bass, guitar, and violin playing; her brother Joost van Dyck, who lays the foundation with his compelling, dynamic rhythms; and New Zealand guitar virtuoso Daniel “Dafreeze” Johnston, who enriches the whole with enchanting arpeggios and razor-sharp slide guitar riffs.
