For the second year in a row a stage for madness and everydayness, or precisely the everyday madness. An evening in which our relative life is shaken up. In which the arts as ideal instruments are the messenger or perhaps the essence. Because what is actually more absurd: the world outside or inside the walls of tonight?

The Night of Absurdism is also a celebration of the arts. Literature, performance, theater, dialogue, night culture, visual art and music by about 49 performers in more than thirty performances in all halls and nooks and crannies of Paradiso. With contributions from Stephanie Louwrier, Joost Oomen & Daan Doesborgh, Sexyland, Ronald Snijders, Doreen van der Meer, Extince, Jan Dirk van der Burg & Flavia Faas, Steven de Peven, Circusbende, Katinka Polderman and much much more.

This programme is made possible by the Culture Fund and AFK.

Line-up

Steven de Peven
DJ, multidisciplinary artist, long ago active with Rednose Distrikt (Kid Sublime and Aardvarck). He makes installations that make eyes and ears blink, as far as that is possible. Also experienced table football specialist.

Ponyclub Tartaflette
Remarkable band based on experimental freepunk, but only pony songs.

Marian Donner
Celebrated writer interprets society in her articles and books in always striking ways. Let us cherish the misfits.

Sexyland
Carte Blanche for the free-spirited collective / the most exciting nightclub / everything you hope and want for the Amsterdam art and culture: Sexyland.

Ronald Giphart
Writer reads from known or unknown work. The question for tonight is who will hear it.

Harry Merry
Legendary Rotterdam non-conformist cult musician with each concert an unconditional surrender.

Circusbende
The most exhilarating Amsterdam outdoor festival of the year gets a free pass. Expect spectacular and nerve-wracking acts.

Goda Žukauskaitė
Dancer gives in her ongoing performance a big wink to Camus' Myth of Sisyphus.

An ode to George Macunias
Performance inspired by the founder of Fluxus, including Luc Ex and Oscar Jan Hoogland.

Daan Doesborgh
Writer, translator, podcast maker and presenter. Former Dutch Champion Poetry Slam and maker of the monthly Poetry Podcast.

Joost Oomen
Poet, writer, theater maker, performer, record seller and drummer. Oomen performed from Pisa to Ter Apel, from Viseu to Vlieland and from the church to the chicken coop.

Peter Zegveld
Charismatic visual and performance artist grabs you by the scruff.

Uncle Jefferson
Previous edition he was a goat, now he plunges into the guise of a mosquito.

Mike Moonen
There are people with a rich imagination and there are people with a rich imagination. 'Mike Moonen is a saboteur of common sense.'

Simone van Schuffelen
Simone Schuffelen is a visual artist, but describes herself as singer, fruit picker, court jester, full-time human and lover. Her work cannot be captured under one heading.

Rowan van As
Versatile artist who in his work deals with the essential primordial question: 'What if this thing could be that?'

Sandra Kaas
Makes suits that you certainly have not seen before. Also primal mother of De Oermoeder.

Arthur van Beek
His performances stimulate and connect, amaze and delight, unsettle and move.

Thor Kissing
The Hague singer-songwriter and video maker. Unparalleled in the Dutch music landscape.

Manu Louis
Fasten your belts with this hyper-authentic one-man band in a bathrobe.
