Experimental

On Sunday afternoon November 23rd Patricia’s Pillow brings 8 speakers, 3 artists and lots of pillows to Markt Centraal! It will be a cosy, spatial afternoon from 15:00 – 18:00 with a (optional) warm dinner afterwards. Restaurant Rainarai is serving lovely veggie, fish and meat dinner options afterwards. You can go home with a full heart and full tummy. *We can’t control the temperature in the hall so bring a warm coat, just in case.

Marlotte Nugteren

After stumbling upon a ceramic bird whistle in a thrift store in Helsinki, Marlotte Nugteren became fascinated by the sound of clay whistles and began creating a collection of her own.

Armed with self-made whistles, other handmade sound objects and her voice she creates otherworldly soundscapes that explore themes such as decay, boredom and inner turmoil.

Roman Willems

Roman Willems is an artist who explores the relationship between technology, sound, and space. In his work, he builds his own instruments using tools like Max/MSP and 4DSOUND, creating sounds that move and evolve over time. Over the past few years, he has been developing an instrument called Environments, a project in which he created his own playable sound environment. With Environments, he aimed to create an instrument where the relationship between the player and the computer is equal. With generative sound modules, he creates live performances where he invites the audience to experience how sound moves and interacts with space.

Most of the time, he combines these modern digital tools with analog instruments such as synthesizers and cassette players. This combination allows him to create a sound that feels both modern and nostalgic.

Sandy and the Fossils

As it turns out, placing stone fossils (found on long walks) on a casio keyboard helps to free one’s hands for playing guitar. Sandy and the Fossils sings songs about insects, infrastructures, friendship, toxic flowers and city animals. The diy musician has a love for lo-fi recording and likes to invite friends to join in playing live sets with an instrument of their preference – making each performance unique.
