American singer/guitarist Pokey LaFarge is one of those musicians born with an old soul. The western swing, early jazz, country, and ragtime blues he creates seems to come straight from a Mississippi riverboat in the 1920s. In recent years, LaFarge has been exploring new musical territory – think soul, but also rumba and samba (on his 2024 album Rhumba Country). His new record, Rent Money, will be released on September 11, 2026; the nice, bluesy title track is already out. As LaFarge himself says: "I'm just trying to make music that AI can't replicate!"
