Saxophonist Paul van der Feen joined the Metropole Orkest in 2004 at the age of 26 as the youngest member. He studied jazz saxophone at the Amsterdam Conservatory and played in various bands, including his own bands and a quartet with his brothers Mark, Matthijs, and Clemens. With the Metropole Orkest, where he is now the second alto saxophonist, Paul has played with greats like Herbie Hancock, Richard Bona, and John Scofield. He also has various musical projects, ranging from intimate duos to larger ensembles. His playing is characterized by a combination of technical mastery, a lyrical tone, and a strong sense of melody and form. For today's performance, Paul has invited three renowned jazz musicians: Hans Vroomans on piano, Jasper Somsen on bass, and Roy Dackus on drums.
