Ben Lasky adopted the nickname Quadeca during kindergarten in an attempt to give his imaginary superhero alter ego a name. When he was ten years old, he took on the heroic task that would become the centerpiece of his creative career: building unique worlds through self-produced music. Now, at 24, he has amassed over half a billion streams and views. Quadeca's first forays into concept albums, 'Voice Memos' and 'From Me To You', both made impressive debuts on streaming platforms for an independent musician. In 2022, the release of his spectral and impressionistic album 'I Didn't Mean To Haunt You' marked a turning point for Lasky, with contributions from Danny Brown, Thor Harris of Swans, and the Sunday Service Choir. The project, an expression of his hallmark creative independence, is a fully self-produced opus with an accompanying film that earned him a new level of appreciation from both music fans and critics. This was followed by his 2024 mixtape 'SCRAPYARD', an utterly unique potpourri of experimental hip-hop, neo-psychedelia, alternative r&b, pop, bossanova, and indie rock, which became his most celebrated release to date, despite being touted as a leftover project. In 2025, Quadeca has set his sights on releasing 'Vanisher, Horizon Scraper', a seafaring-themed concept album that has been generating high expectations for almost a year since the title was revealed to fans during his performance with Kevin Abstract at Coachella.
