The French trio SLIFT, consisting of brothers Jean and Rémi Fossat and drummer Canek Flores, is known for their expansive and cosmic sound in which psychedelia, krautrock, and heavy riffs merge into long, meandering compositions. On earlier albums such as 'UMMON' and 'ILION', the band was guided by a sense of 'fantasia': free forms and genres that offered room for improvisation, as if the music were being sent into the cosmos while being played.

Ironically, with their latest album 'Fantasia', the band takes a different direction. This is their most direct and focused work to date, a tighter whole in which not a moment is wasted. The record unfolds as a sharp and compelling story about a world in turmoil, carried by a band that is audibly on edge. At the same time, it is a story about resilience and rediscovering autonomy, even when it lies deeply hidden.
