Since 2010, audiovisual artist and curator Firas El Hallak has been organising and filming experimental sessions in the unfinished Dome of the Rachid Karami International Fair in Tripoli, Lebanon. The resulting installation The Dome Sessions is on view from Friday to Sunday, ending every day with a live session with musicians that also feature in the installation.
Ghadr is a new project by Lebanese musicians Sandy Chamoun, Anthony Sahyoun and Jad Atoui. The former two also work together in ecstatic rock collective Sanam, the latter two in their duo NP. Ghadr is built on group improvisation. Surges of dazzling electronics and distortion meld with vocals that, while stemming from a background in classical Arabic singing, seek to reroute tradition.
