Heavy folk band Sowulo uses both modern and medieval instruments to create a powerful and distinctive sound deeply rooted in ancient Norwegian folk traditions. Their new album, "NIHT," will be released soon. It centers on the night, the moon, and the cycle of life and death, blending personal experiences with mythological themes. For fans of Wardruna, Heilung, and Danheim, this is a fantastic opportunity to see Sowulo live at Patronaat on Saturday, November 22nd!
The lyrics are largely conceptual, referencing archetypal and animistic themes and the cyclical nature of existence. The project was founded in 2012 by multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Faber Horbach , who had already been working on the concept for several years. The band's name, derived from the Germanic rune for "sun," symbolizes the cyclical nature of existence, a theme central to all their work.
