The Besnard Lakes was founded in 2003 by the couple Jace Lasek and Olga Goreas in the vibrant Mile End scene of Montreal. From their own Breakglass Studio, they began with 'Volume I', followed by the breakthrough album 'The Besnard Lakes Are the Dark Horse'. Since then, the band has built a career of more than twenty years full of dreamy, psychedelic rock, three Polaris Prize nominations and rave reviews in, among others, Mojo and Uncut.
