Telling stories is what Bram Vanparys – aka The Bony King Of Nowhere – is all about. For sixteen years, this Belgian indie troubadour has translated personal and universal grief into beautiful songs. Sensitive, layered folk songs with which he has nestled among the elite of Flemish pop, even winning a MIA award for best composer.
Yet Vanparys is not just your dusty folkie with a checkered shirt and guitar. Besides Bob Dylan, Thom Yorke is another major source of inspiration. He took his stage name from a Radiohead song, and musically he transformed from singer-songwriter to a master of richly arranged indie pop. Just listen to his latest album, Everybody Knows, where he draws inspiration from PJ Harvey, Nick Cave, and of course, Thom Yorke.
Not only has Vanparys found his own sound, but he has also assembled a group of top musicians around him. His band members have played with Sylvie Kreusch, Tamino, and Bombataz, thus a group of Belpop veterans in top form, ready to make time stand still.
