Since the 1980s, the Waterboys have been led by Scottish singer and guitarist Mike Scott and have evolved through numerous line-ups, building a fearsome concert reputation along the way. Their best-known songs include The Whole Of The Moon, How Long Will I Love You, This Is The Sea and Fisherman's Blues.
Fronted by Scottish singer/guitarist Mike Scott since the 1980s, The Waterboys have evolved through many lineups, building a fearsome concert reputation along the way. One of the best live bands in the world, 2025’s group features dual keyboardists Brother Paul from Memphis and James Hallawell from Cornwall, and is grounded by the killer Irish rhythm section of Aongus Ralston (bass) and Eamon Ferris (drums).
They reconfigure music from every stage of the band’s career, from the early “big music” of The Whole Of The Moon and the classic This Is The Sea album, to the roots-inspired Fisherman’s Blues era and the string of in-form records poured out since 2015’s Nashville-recorded Modern Blues , taking in soul, funk, country-rock and any other form of music they want to play.
Waterboys songs have featured in recent live sets by The War On Drugs, Bleachers, U2, The Killers, Tom Jones and many more, but no one plays Waterboys like The Waterboys.
This year the band is touring with their bold new album on Sun Records, Life, Death And Dennis Hopper, which tells the story of the maverick American actor and pioneer. Audiences can expect Waterboys classics, new directions, drama, improvisation and musical fireworks.
This concert is a collaboration with Patronaat.
