Trixie Whitley returns to Amsterdam in November for an intimate concert at Bitterzoet. The musician, who grew up between Ghent and New York, presents a nine-track project on loss and motherhood with her new album 'Folded Time'. The work came about after an intense seven-year period in which Whitley confronted repressed thoughts and shaped her new identity as a mother.
During the recordings in Brussels, Brooklyn, and Montreal, Whitley herself sat behind the drums, bass, guitar, and piano. This results in a sound that balances delicate incantations with raw, trippy atmospheres, featuring influences from R&B and soul. Although Whitley (indeed the daughter of musician Chris Whitley) has been on stage since childhood, on this tour she demonstrates her own autonomous strength more than ever.
