On Monday, November 9 from 15:30-17:00, 'Wensen met je ogen dicht' will be performed again in the Dokzaal of Plantage Dok. The performance is played prior to the Kristallnacht commemoration (Reichspogromnacht commemoration) in the Portuguese Synagogue. Directed by Ot Kleiterp, the performers include Anne-Claire, Brigitte, Irem, Khadija, Rida, Sergio, Sylvie, Ashwini, Esmeralda, Sanne, and Sebastiaan. With thanks to Theater na de Dam, Stichting Cordaan, Digitale Kunst. 'Wensen met je ogen dicht' is a poignant performance about life in wartime, where hope and fear come together. Without many words, but with powerful physical scenes, the players take you on a journey of connection, disruption, and hope. The performance specifically draws attention to the estimated 300,000 victims with disabilities or mental disorders who perished during World War II, to ensure they are not forgotten. The performance is inspired by research into Aktion T4, the secret code name for the large-scale euthanasia and eugenics program of Nazi Germany, aimed at systematically murdering people with psychiatric disorders or intellectual disabilities.
