Over the winding roads of indie pop, straight through the alleys of folk music, and along the side roads of rock and electronica, WIES walks a path entirely their own. And with this, they previously sold out our Stage 1. On Saturday, November 21, WIES is back at Patronaat!
WIES is a musical chameleon, known for tracks such as Soms Is Het Te Laat, Meisje, and Venus. Colorful on the outside with influences from punk and electronic sides, and a grand sound. But also with a deeper layer, a serious and sensitive interior, with lyrics that mean something and have been well thought out. The question 'what is WIES?' is by now irrelevant. Once you have experienced WIES, you understand!
In the spring of 2026, the trio released their long-awaited third studio album 'AH!': a collage of a quarter-crisis. About finding and losing friendships and love, about worries and dilemmas that dance around life. Musically, WIES pushes the raw edge even further. With new band member Teun van der Maarel on bass and keyboards, the sound of WIES is further deepened: more layered, more exciting, but always unmistakably WIES. The result is an album that moves effortlessly between small and intimate and grand and compelling, as was already evident in singles like 'Drijfzand' and 'Ik Geloof Dat Wij Iets Delen'.
