The English post-punk band Yard Act combines danceable, minimalist indie rock with sharp spoken word lyrics. Vocalist James Smith may have a common name, but on stage he is a charismatic frontman who (as the Flemish newspaper De Morgen describes it) 'holds the middle between Ian Curtis and Samuel T. Herring of Future Islands'. Yard Act now has two albums out, The Overload (2022) and Where’s My Utopia? (2024), featuring thinking man’s bangers like Dark Days, Dream Job, and The Overload. Suitable for fans of Sleaford Mods, The Fall, and Dry Cleaning!
