Our Utrecht-based emo and pop-punk band Zakmes is releasing their new EP 'We Are SO Back ', featuring 7 brand-new songs, and that naturally calls for a celebration!
They previously released their EPs Big Things Coming Soon and Make Emo Great Again , in which Zakmes combines emo with stubborn excursions into indie, punk, and other genres, with anthems such as SAD GUY SUMMER and Now I See You, Now I Don't .
We Are SO Back is a story about being afraid of standing still in life, whether that be in society, your job, or your own head. Expect everything from dreamy alt-pop interludes to 2-step-worthy pop-punk bangers and crude hardcore riffs; but always emo at the core.
Naturally, Zakmes always brings some friends along, this time namely Garden Walk and SPEAR .
Garden Walk is an international emo-shoegaze band based in Amsterdam with sad yet catchy songs, featuring themes such as war, immigration, mental health, and heartbreak. A beautiful blend of emo and shoegaze; vulnerable and loud intertwined, from subdued personal moments to heavy, compelling soundscapes.
SPEAR from Eindhoven brings the hard energy of the evening, with melodic, tempo-driven songs and personal, raw lyrics. Inspired by the 90s and 2000s hardcore scene, they deliver an energetic set full of heavy breakdowns and ripping metallic guitar riffs.
