The Icelandic band Árstíðir occupies a unique position in the music world: vocal harmonies, not instruments, form the foundation of their sound. The band's name means "seasons" in Icelandic, and time is a central theme in their work. Árstíðir has been active in the European folk and metal scene for seventeen years, thanks in part to collaborations with Sólstafir and Anneke van Giersbergen. Their ninth album, Vetrarsól (2025), was released in October, a remarkable a cappella release!
