The idiosyncratic Belgian band Ão (pronounced "ow") blends electronica, art pop, Afropop, saudade, and alternative Latin. The four-piece weaves these diverse influences into a hybrid sound that is simultaneously warm, rhythmic, and layered. Frontwoman Brenda Corijn sings in Portuguese and English; her voice floats between intimate and powerful, carried by southern guitar playing, rich electronics, and eclectic percussion.
