Docile Bodies is a post-punk collective from Tilburg and Amsterdam. The band is known for their simultaneously combative and romantic approach to post-punk, where grand, melodic guitars and soulful vocals effortlessly move between the more wavy and raw sides of the genre. Their music focuses on themes such as art, nature, and family, alongside reflections on monotony and the value of hope. After previous releases like the single 'Only This' (2020), the EP 'Arc' (2022), and the debut album 'Light Will Come Our Way' (2024), the band has played at festivals such as Best Kept Secret, Here's the Thing, and Geleen Calling.
With 'Rest', Docile Bodies takes a new path. While 'Light Will Come Our Way' still sought a cautious trust in nature and family ties, 'Rest' trades that catharsis for eight tracks that remain slower, harder to console, and consciously unresolved. The album moves through empty spaces, memories, and broken beliefs, without wanting to organize or explain them. As the band describes it, 'Rest' listens attentively to grief—not to explain it, but to sit silently beside it.
