Gong began in 1969 when Daevid Allen (co-founder of Soft Machine) translated his spiritual vision into a unique musical collective. Gong became more than a band; it became its own mythology. The current formation was personally assembled by Daevid just before his death in 2015. His directive was clear: Gong must continue to exist and 'reach new heights that he himself could never have foreseen.' This group is now the most stable lineup in the band's long history. For eleven years, they have been working together on new material and touring the world.
