When one experience of loss piles upon another, it does not become any easier to stay on your feet, to remain human. Despite everything, sometimes it still works out. Sinan Can has produced many reports in the Middle East and explores the cultural traditions in which people find solace to hold their ground. In his contribution, he also draws on his * Book of the Embrace* , which will be published in November.
Sinan Can is an award-winning Dutch documentary filmmaker and journalist. He became known for the documentaries he initially made for VARA and later for BNNVARA. He is also the founder of the Shams-Rhumi Foundation for aid to children in war zones. His work stands out, among other things, for his ability to maintain an eye for humanity even in the harshest circumstances. His insights and experiences with suffering in the world have led to * Het Boek der Omhelzing * (The Book of Embraces ). In his own words: “it is a book of comfort, a place where you may rest for a moment, where grief may soften and love may breathe again”.
With Sinan Can, we are launching the program The Metabolism of Loss.
