We, of course, know Jesse Barnett primarily as the frontman of the Californian hardcore powerhouse Stick to Your Guns. With his intense vocals, socially critical lyrics, and emotional performance, he grew into one of the defining voices of the genre.
And it hardly gets more hardcore than this, with lyrics steeped in social inequality, mental health, and strong political messages.
And you wouldn't expect it from someone who names his band Stick To Your Guns, but as a solo artist, Barnett shows a completely different side of himself. Gone are the filthy screams and wailing guitars, and suddenly there is room for sensitive melodies and acoustic instrumentation. But his message remains standing tall. A message of activism and
introspection, with which he fills the City Monastery in Utrecht to the rafters.
