Ladysmith Black Mambazo

The South African ensemble Ladysmith Black Mambazo—calling them a choir does not do justice to their status; it is a cultural institution. The formation was founded in 1960 and achieved success in its own country in the seventies, so much that they were no longer allowed to take part in talent shows because they always won. The big breakthrough came in 1986, when Paul Simon enlisted the help of Ladysmith Black Mambazo on his now legendary album Graceland. Since then the ensemble has toured the world with their message which is now more needed than ever: Peace, love and harmony!
