LSD and the Search for God reached the coast of Northern California in 2005 with mesmerizing shows built on swirling guitars, otherworldly drones, fuzzed-out pop melodies, and dreamy vocal harmonies. Early shows and recordings drew comparisons to My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Yo La Tengo, Spacemen 3, and Sonic Youth, quickly establishing the band as a must-see act within the underground shoegaze and psych scene. With their self-titled debut EP, the band became a key player in the shoegaze revival of the late 2000s. However, the fourth track, 'Starting Over', emerged as a defining moment. 'Starting Over' has since grown from a fan favorite to a modern shoegaze anthem, one that fits well within the new shoegaze wave that has been resurging since the 2020s.
