The Japanese instrumental rock band MONO has been creating their own unique form of music since 1999, which could be called post-rock, but the band actually transcends all genres. The variation in dynamics is elevated to an art form with MONO: many of their songs feature dreamy passages that let you drift away on a sea of echoes, followed by a burst of hard-hitting noise rock. On June 12, 2026, MONO's thirteenth album Snowdrop will be released, a tribute to their friend and producer Steve Albini, who passed away in 2024.
