Things can move fast in music: one moment you're playing in the shopping streets of Melbourne, the next you're at Pinkpop. It happened to twin brothers Jack & Pat Pierce – or well, 'happened', they worked hard for it. For although they look like laid-back neo-hippies with their dreadlocks and acoustic guitar, the Pierce Brothers' performances are primarily characterized by boundless energy. Musically, they fit in with the style of Mumford & Sons, but as former street musicians, they can actually do anything – for instance, they covered Mark Ronson's Uptown Funk on 3FM with a didgeridoo! On their latest album Moonrise (2025), they demonstrate that they effortlessly know how to translate that raw live energy into compelling, narrative folk tracks.
