Rianne is returning to Patronaat! On Thursday, December 17, the singer, who previously performed as The Indien, will be on our Stage 2 under her own name. Her new single 'Funeral' was recently released, a preview of a second album set to be released in 2027.
So, a new name, and that is not a break, but a logical continuation. Rianne’s music has become more personal and direct in recent years, and the name follows that movement. Where The Indien always maintained a certain distance—an artistic persona between the creator and the listener—there is now nothing standing between them. On 'Funeral', Rianne bids farewell to the people-pleaser within herself, the version that wanted to make everyone happy, and makes room for who she is now.
Rianne Walther (The Hague) creates pop songs centered around her distinctive voice and personal stories—melancholic and danceable at the same time—with a production that balances live recordings and DIY sessions at home. She is a Spotify RADAR artist, played sold-out shows as The Indien at Paard, Paradiso, EKKO, Rotown, and Tolhuistuin, and supported DI-RECT (Ahoy, De Kuip) and Son Mieux (AFAS Live).
