Steve Vai has been regarded as one of the most influential guitarists in the world for over forty years. The American broke through in the 1980s as a musician for Frank Zappa and subsequently played with David Lee Roth and Whitesnake, among others, but primarily built an impressive solo career with albums such as Passion And Warfare (1990). With his virtuoso technique, adventurous compositions, and unmistakable sound of his own, Vai has repeatedly pushed the boundaries of guitar music.
He also does this together with the Metropole Orchestra, with whom he has been collaborating for more than twenty-five years. Under the direction of Finnish conductor Jukka Iisakkila, Vai and the orchestra present newly orchestrated versions of his best-known compositions, supplemented by repertoire that has never before been performed live. Exclusive previews of a future joint release will also be heard.
