Veerle Pennock a.k.a. Elektortek is an engineer of electronic inventions and a musician who uses modular synths. From self-made synthesisers to everyday machines connected by MIDI sequencers, and DIY modular experiments gone wrong, there’s always something strange ticking in her live sets. Her music blends complex rhythms with looped sequences, creating a whirlpool of lo-fi crunch and subtle voices.
During her live set Pennock is building and destroying a synthesised orchestra of sounds, not defined by one specific music genre. As founder of Utrecht’s DIY synthesiser and electronics workspace and education hub Acid Solder Club, she’s always working on strange, old or obsolete machines, building unconventional musical interfaces with electronics, and teaching others.
