Her upcoming debut album RE:conciliation portrays an entire life through music, from an unexpected beginning and youthful rebellion to burnout, grief, acceptance, and returning to where it all began. The energetic sound moves between Hiromi-inspired jazz fusion, Japanese jazz-rock, retro-gaming textures, and the warmth of Studio Ghibli.
JOYA’s latest EP, What If It All Works Out?, was released just before this tour and explores what it means to be childlike but not childish, hopeful but not naive, and to view optimism as an act of rebellion. Characteristic of her shows are storytelling, playful interaction, and new arrangements of her indie pop songs about love, being queer, faith, healing, and what it means to be human.
SOMEWHERE BETWEEN TOUR
For Somewhere Between, the two sets are merged. JOYA's personal songs take on a new form with cinematic touches and jazz-rock grooves, while TC.KYLIE's instrumentals are framed by Joya's voice as an instrument.
