Teenage Fanclub was founded in 1989 and broke through with their third album 'Bandwagonesque' (1991), which won Spin Magazine's Best Album Poll at the time, leaving behind Nirvana's 'Nevermind' and R.E.M.'s 'Out of Time'. Kurt Cobain called the Scottish band 'the best band in the world' at that time. Teenage Fanclub initially started as a noise band and then moved on to power pop, gradually the music has become somewhat milder without losing strength. With tasteful, sparkling, and melodic guitar pop, framed with often melancholic harmonies, the Scots have grown into true indie veterans. New music is in the making, but live the focus is on the interplay and the joy of performing.
