There's no doubt that guitarist and frontman Zac Schulze is a world-class shredder. He plays with precision, speed, and passion, but the trio's focus isn't solely on his solos. The Zac Schulze Gang is a true gang: a tight-knit group with a raw mentality that gives their rock 'n' roll an electric charge.

Zac Schulze rides the thunder generated by the rhythm section of his drummer brother Ben and bassist Ant Greenwell. Together, the three create a colossal wall of sound, without ever losing sight of the essence of their songs.

Straight To It is a fitting title for the Zac Schulze Gang's debut album: the trio doesn't do pleasantries, preferring to play the kind of blues-infused rock 'n' roll that grabs you by the throat and won't let go.

The blend of melody and power gives Straight To It a raw, physical punch. While the band initially drew inspiration from the blues, they break new ground on this album. They open with "The Rocker ," whose breathless hooks almost feel like a battle cry, and maintain that same energy level in the lightning-fast attack of "High Roller." That hard edge is juxtaposed with the sparkling power pop of Angeline and Betterland , an alt-rock anthem that soars straight to the heavens.

Even in those softer moments, The Zac Schulze Gang retains their raw, unpolished feel. They sound like heirs to both the razor-sharp energy of Dr. Feelgood and the fiery humanity of Rory Gallagher.
