Yendry has had enough of love. At least, if you’re to believe songs like ‘No me vuelvo a enamorar’. The percussion keeps a steady beat and the bass keeps it danceable as she decides never to fall in love again. The Dominican-Italian singer creates Latin pop with electronic beats and R&B, in which rhythms from her homeland are clearly audible.
She’s already attracted worldwide attention with her first single, ‘Nena’. Now, on her debut album ‘Como agua’, she sings about leaving a place behind and starting afresh somewhere else. Her Dominican and Italian roots come through on the record; you can hear the danceable guitar rhythms of bachata, but also the influence of Italian pop in the melodies. And that intention not to fall in love again? She doesn’t manage to stick to it for the whole album.
