Yong Yello, the Antwerp rapper who initially worked primarily behind the scenes for artists like Glints and Tourist LeMC, broke through four years ago with his debut album, "Marcel & Het Magnetisme Van De Goot." It was certified gold and brought him to sold-out venues and major festivals like Rock Werchter and Pukkelpop. Songs like "Als Ge Slaapt," "Cirkels," and "Waanzin" quickly established him as a fixture in Dutch-language hip-hop and gave him his own place on stage.
Now he's back in the spotlight with his second album, "Bennie & De Banaliteit Van Ons Bestaan," released in September 2025. It's a concept album about Bennie, an alter ego struggling with ambition, security, and the need for achievement. Musically, Yong Yello sounds more urgent and versatile, with a faster tempo and influences from soul, funk, and hip-hop, complemented by French sixties soundtracks and Latin accents. At Paradiso, he'll bring this new work to life live in a show where story, energy, and emotion reinforce each other.
