Changing Tides will be at Patronaat on Saturday, October 18, for the release show of their new EP 'To Exist is Worth Nothing'. With Man As Plague and Scorn as support acts, this evening focuses on the heavier side of metalcore and deathcore. The band from the Southern Netherlands combines tight riffs, low breakdowns, and orchestral layers with influences from Lorna Shore, Thy Art Is Murder, and Bleed From Within, among others. In previous releases, Changing Tides collaborated with vocalists from the international deathcore scene, which strengthened their position within the genre. The album 'Amidst The Gray' was positively received and showcased a clear step forward in production and songwriting. The new EP builds on this with a greater emphasis on rhythm and live energy. Singles 'To Exist is Worth Nothing' and 'Oxytocin' showcase a more direct approach, with shorter tension arcs and heavier drops. Live, this translates into a compact, physical set with little room for rest. Support Scorn Scorn sits in the modern corner of metalcore and hardcore, with clear industrial influences in their sound. On debut EP 'Unmeasured Violence', the band opts for tight, mechanical rhythms and a clinical production that amplifies the aggression. In doing so, Scorn positions itself as a new, heavier voice within the local scene.
