MELANCHOLIC SONGS AT THE INTERSECTION OF SILENCE, AMBIENT AND FOLK

Chicago-based songwriter Gia Margaret moves between ambient and folk, with minimalist and experimental influences. She debuted in 2019 with 'There's Always A Glimmer', but then had to deal with voice problems. During that period, she developed other musical languages and made the instrumental ambient record 'Mia Gargaret'.

Now that her physical voice has been restored and her artistic voice has been sharpened, she makes the circle and returns this year with 'Singing': her first vocal album since 2019. Supported by soft piano lines, she brings melancholic songs that gently rock the listener back and forth, to break that peace from time to time with heartbreaking lyrics and richer instrumentation. Throughout the album, she applies the lessons of speechlessness to her own artistic voice and takes that with her to the Jacobikerk this late summer.
