The Zwolle-based band Hiigo was founded on January 1, 2021, when singer and guitarist Hans van de Werf decided to move from performing solo to performing with fellow musicians. Together with guitarist Dion van der Geest, bassist Aart de Gier, keyboardist Peter Terluin, and drummer Koen Gardebroek, they released their debut single, " Laat Me Los," in May of that year .

After their own releases "Dichterbij ," "Waar Het Valt Of Staat," and "Equilibrium, " Hiigo broke through with " Tankstation ." The track received airplay on NPO Radio 2, became a TopSong, and reached number one on the Verrukkelijke 15. 3FM also picked up the track, leading to a number one spot on the Verrukkelijke 15 and a visit to Het Glazen Huis.

From then on, things moved quickly: in 2024, Hiigo played twenty shows, including festivals and support slots for Krezip, IOS, and Wies. Tankstation appeared on the EP Thuis (Home) , produced by Rob Peters (Bløf, Typhoon), who also produced the debut album Leven In De Leegte ( Life In The Leegte ). The single "Alles Wat Ik Zoek" ( Everything I Search ) was once again a TopSong and landed on the playlists of 3FM and Radio 2. Hiigo was named 3FM Serious Talent and nominated for a 3FM Award for Best Newcomer.

After a sold-out club tour and a busy summer of festivals, including Concert at Sea and Dauwpop, Hiigo announces their biggest solo show: February 2026 in a sold-out Pandora Hall at TivoliVredenburg. That week, the single " Waar Ik Ben" (Where I Am) will be released , as a preview of the album that will follow in the fall of 2026.
