The Canadian pianist/composer Jean-Michel Blais combines neoclassical, minimalism, and avant-garde into a unique style. As a natural talent, he was invited to study at the conservatory at the age of 17, but left after two years due to the strictness. Since then, Blais has followed his own path, influenced as much by Chopin as by Steve Reich and Yann Tiersen. His debut album II was released in 2016, followed by Dans Ma Main (2018, which also includes electronics) and this year his new album mirador is coming out. The first single ulysse is a beautiful piece enriched with a choir!
